The Solas Safe Pass course is a one day safety awareness programme. It is designed to promote a safe work culture on construction sites. It aims to ensure that all workers in construction are aware of the inherent dangers on a construction site.

Mark Dodd Driver and Safety Training provide Safe Pass Courses in Sligo. We can also come to your business and provide on site training if you have a group.

Who should attend

It is a legal requirement for all construction site workers to hold a valid Solas Safe Pass card. This includes:

  • General Construction Workers
  • Craft Workers
  • Apprentices
  • On-site Security Workers
  • Contractors Drivers On-site
  • Delivery Drivers On-site e.g. concrete trucks

On successful completion of the Safe Pass course and assessment, participants will receive a Solas Safe Pass registration card. The Solas Safe Pass card must be renewed every four years.

Requirements to attend

  • PPS Number
  • 2 passport size photos
  • Photo I.D.
  • Be over 16 years old
  • Full English comprehension
  • Course fee fully paid

Aims of Safe Pass

  • To raise the standard of safety awareness in the construction industry
  • To ensure that all site personnel undergo basic health and safety awareness training with a view to making a positive contribution to the prevention of accidents and avoidance of health hazards
  • To maintain a register of personnel who have received such training
  • To provide all participants with a SOLAS Safe Pass registration card which will indicate that the holder has attended a formal course in health and safety awareness.

Group Bookings

If you are a company or an individual who can co-ordinate a group of 10 or more participants, you can avail of a group discount.


If you are unable to attend in order to secure a refund you must notify us at least 72 hours in advance. Otherwise course fees will not be refunded but we may at our discretion be able to offer you a place on an alternative date.
